who 25/5 suits

this is the original pomodoro rhythm, the one Francesco Cirillo worked out in the late 1980s with a tomato-shaped kitchen timer. its biggest strength is that 25 minutes is easy to agree to. on a day when a task feels impossible to begin, committing to one short round is often enough to get you moving, and the break arrives before boredom does.

it fits admin, email, revision, chores and anything you can chip away at in small pieces. it is also a gentle way to find out how long your attention actually lasts before you try anything longer. the timer here nudges you toward a longer rest after four rounds, which matches the classic method's 15 to 30 minute long break.

where it struggles is deep work. if you are coding, writing or designing, the chime can land just as you finally settle in. if that keeps happening, try a longer split. when 25 minutes helps and when it is the wrong number and how long a pomodoro break should be go further.
